The Israeli Design Center - Mediatheque Holon, was
established on September 2004, as an initiative step of the Holon municipality
mayor, Mr. Motti Sasson, and the constant help of the town's general
manager Mrs. Hana Hertzman.The Mediatheque is headed by Mr.Alon Sapan.The
Mediatheque is containing the new innovative and updated city library,and an
impressive new theater for young audience.
The Holon
Design Museum is being built next to the Mediatheque .it was planned
and Designed by the international architect and designer Ron Arad. The
Museum manger is Mrs. Galit Gaon.
The Israeli
Design Center is focusing on promoting design in several ways.
Website
This unique design website contains information about most of the design fields
and the design oriented industry in Israel. Its goal is to be a source of
Knowledge, information and contacts for designers, industrialists, academic
institutes, business people, marketing consultants and the design proponent
public.
The main purpose is to develop and advance Israeli industry and design In
this country and abroad. The website concentrates essential and
important information about design subjects. It publishes updated design news
regarding exhibitions, events, competitions, scholarships and rewards. The I.D.C
site also contains designer's galleries, links to technology, industry, and
design websites. Updated Local and international tenders, list of manufactures
and suppliers, design and information services are also published on the I.D.C
site. We create our own contents:

Interviews with Israeli designers

Interesting lectures summary.

Photos and short descriptions of exhibitions and events in
Israel.

Competitions from Israel and From all over the world.
Material
Library
The Center also includes an information center of production
technologies and materials containing hundreds of samples of materials from all
branches of the industry, as well as a library equipped with books,
periodicals, catalogues and films.Companies producing Plastics, Wood, Ceramics,
Paper, Metal, Composites, Textiles, Biodegradable materials and more....are
presented at our library and exposed to thousands of professionals daily.
The Center holds a new and up-to-date body of knowledge that
promotes interrelationships between designers, industrialists, marketing
people, businesses, academics and scientists from Israel and abroad.
Design Education
Among the Design Education activities, one can experience
conventions, lectures, workshops and encounters with and between designers.The
Center also works closely with the community to enhance its knowledge and
awareness.
The I.D.C goals:

and Students, business initiators, and for the general public that finds design
professionally and culturally interesting.
